First Lady, Laura Bush in Dallas to tour new art exhibit

Dallas, Texas (CaymanMama.com) — Even though President Bush and his family will need to put the house hunting into full swing since they will be officially homeless on January 21st, the day after the new president is inaugurated, first lady Laura Bush is in Dallas not with the intention of finding a new home, but to take a tour of a new art exhibit at the Nasher Sculpture Center in honor of its fifth anniversary.
According to an article published in the Dallas Morning News on Friday, Mrs. Bush last visited the art center during its grand opening and was shown the iconic exhibits of such art greats as Picasso and Matisse. This time, she was escorted to the rooms which showcased other art geniuses like Warhol and Rodin.
“The new exhibit, ‘In Pursuit of the Masters: Stories from the Raymond and Patsy Nasher Collection,’ celebrates the center’s founders, an aspect that makes it more intimate and unique than many collections, Mrs. Bush said. ‘This showcase is more about the relationship the Nashers had with the artists,’ she said.”
Mrs. Bush is a Texas native having grown up in Midland and is attracted to Dallas’ increasing focus on the arts and how it can be tied into education, another one of her biggest platforms for change. “Dallas has a very vibrant cultural life and is getting more,” she told the Dallas Morning News.
Mrs. Bush noted that the Nasher Sculpture Center and a performing arts center that is being constructed in Dallas Arts District will make as a good classroom for school children without being boring.
Although Mrs. Bush is not planning to stay over the weekend, she did say that the Bush family would continue its search for a new home in the Dallas area.
