Update on construction of Freedom Tower - September 11 Memorial Tower

Manhattan, New York (CaymanMama.com) — Seven years ago, the collapse of the Twin Towers in the heart of New York City shook the country to its very core and entirely changed how America would view security and human rights forever. Now, as the anniversary of the seventh year has come and gone, the construction of the Freedom Tower–a monumental and utterly breathtaking structure–is in full swing and is slated to be done in 2012.
Additionally, the National September 11 Memorial is expected to be completed by 2012 and will be located in another area on the 16-acre site, which will be located elsewhere on a 16-acre site. Although both developments have been the subject of controversy, though the way the public fees about them is growing more positive. The structure’s developers are still confident that their building and memorial will be an accurate, sensitive and “fitting tribute” to those affected by the tragedy of September 11.
According to the NYC Freedom Tower website, “The New York City Freedom Tower, which will stand 1,776 feet tall on the site of the former World Trade Center, is the work of the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation. It will serve as a beacon of freedom, and demonstrate the resolve of the United States, and the people of New York City.”
Construction on the tower began in early 2007. The site will be a true reflection of the evolution of our world as a result of the attacks and will feature the Reflecting Absence memorial, “which will honor the 2,986 men and women who died as a result of the terrorist attacks which thrust America, and the world, into war. Over 2,500 people died after the World Trade Center came crashing down to earth, and leaders vow they will never be forgotten.”
