Guantanmo Bay Naval Base (AP): Out of 5 masterminds of 9/11 attacks who had to appear before the court, 1 detainee refused to leave his prison cell. The judged ordered his presence on account of lack of showing the ‘compelling need’ and ordered his presence. The happening delayed the start of court proceedings. The 5 prisoners face death sentence if found guilty.

Russia to stage its naval might in the Caribbean

Moscow (Reuters): Russia’s show of strength, a signal to the US and the West that the communist country is back on its feet. The Russian naval ships left for naval maneuvers in the Caribbean close to the US waters.

Japan gets a new premier

Tokyo (Reuters): Liberal Democratic Party’s leader, Taro Aso won the race to become the new Prime Minister of Japan. The new leader faces challenges of revival of the world’s second largest economy which faces constraints of massive public debt.

Korea adamant on restart its nuclear processing plant

Vienna (Reuters): The North Korean authorities have asked the IAEA officials to take off IAEA seals and vigilance equipment from the main atomic complex as the country want to restart its nuclear plant.

IAEA officials have removed their seals after receiving the request from the North Korean officials but said that efforts are being made to clarify the situation.

‘Hari Putter’ win the law suit

New Delhi (AFP): The case lodged by Warner Bros. against the makers of Bollywood movies ‘Hari Putter’ on the pretext that the title of the movie was too similar to the Hollywood block buster ‘Harry Potter’ was dismissed by the court.

The case was dismissed on the grounds that the title of the Bollywood movie had been known by Warner Bros for over 5 years but they had waited for the final moment to file charges.
