US army plays games with Pakistani border security forces
Islamabad: Pakistan security forces fired warning shots at the US helicopters that crossed borders and entered into Pakistan. The shot fired did not hit the helicopters. According to the official sources one helicopter crossed the border and other hovered over the boundary as if testing Pakistani security forces or inciting / provoking some action so that the US can dwell up on.
The US made best use of the incident at the time when Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari is visiting the US and is meeting the US officials.
Zardari meets Indian Premier - Water dispute to be resolved
New York: The meeting of President Asif Ali Zardari and the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh ended with the decision of resolving the water dispute according to the 1960’s Indus water treaty. Pakistan believes that the Baglihar Dam being built over Chenab river is depriving Pakistan off its just share of water. Indian side has invited Pakistan’s water commissioner to visit and inspect the site.
Bomb threat at the airports force strict security measure
Islamabad: The airports in Pakistan were put on security red alert after bomb threat was received at the Islamabad airport. The caller had given a deadline of 12:40 PM. The airport security force and the police that were already on alert after the Saturday bombing of Marriott hotel, took immediate steps and cleared off the parking lots. Airports through out the country are still on high alert and only passengers with valid travel document are allowed to enter the premises after complete physical check up.
American must fulfill their commitment - stop skirting around the issue
Peshawar: Security officials have pointed out that the US has still to fulfill their side of bargain. In an interview with the daily ‘Dawn’ the security official said “We have been saying this and raising this issue virtually at every tier, including at the highest level — give us the capability we need to effectively control the situation in our tribal areas, but the Americans have been skirting around the issue. When we ask for capability, they start talking about joint operations and training programs. We tell them ‘give us the capability and you will see more effective control of the tribal areas’, and they tell us ‘we are looking into it’.”
Stock maintain the sluggish trend
Karachi: The stock maintained the downward trend with the trading volume touching all time low level of 2.477 million shares. The KSE-100 index slipped down further by 6.60 points. The KSE-100 index stood at 9,184.15 at the close of the days trading session.
