Boston, Massachusetts (CaymanMama.com) — Prior to the much anticipated release of the new Google phone offered by T-Mobile USA, the verbiage has been changed in the user agreement for the wireless data network which will no longer state the “right to slow surfing to a crawl once a subscriber goes over a monthly usage limit” according to a new report by the Associated Press.
The change was made late on Wednesday, one day after T-Mobile revealed the new phone, dubbed the G1 which will be the first smart phone for the network and mirrors many of the features of Apple’s iPhone. It will also be the first phone that will utilize Google’s software platform.
The change comes as a result of some bloggers keen eye who noticed a 1-gigabyte monthly download limit in the user agreement and were worried that it would apply to the G1 phone. The G1 will come with an internet browser, access to Gmail and songs from Amazon, which will likely cause a user to easily and quickly exceed a gigabyte of traffic.
In a statement from T-Mobile, the company said that “since the G1 doesn’t go on sale until Oct. 22, the details of the plan were not final, but it had removed the limit anyway. It still reserves the right to slow down traffic for a ‘a small fraction of our customers who have excessive or disproportionate usage that interferes with our network performance.’”
