$700 billion bailout plan approved by the US house of representatives
Washington (Dawn report): The US house of representatives gave breathing space to the ailing financial sector of the United States. The US $700 billion bailout plan was approved by the US house of representatives by an overwhelming majority. The package got approved by 263-171. The US President said that this approval will help the to ‘stabilize’ the US economy.

London: The Nato forces in Afghanistan are bound to fail, UK envoy was quoted by the French cable. As per the French cable the British ambassador to Afghanistan said “The foreign forces are ensuring the survival of a regime which would collapse without them . . . They are slowing down and complicating an eventual exit from the crisis, which will probably be dramatic.” “In the short term we should dissuade the American presidential candidates from getting more bogged down in Afghanistan . . . The American strategy is doomed to fail.”
India & US celebrating Nuclear deal
Washington: The US secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will be visiting New Delhi to sign the N-Deal. The Bush administration termed the nuclear deal with India the only success of the Bush Administration in the eight years of Mr. Bush’s holding the office of the President. Both the countries are celebrating the event.
President Bush thanked the US legislators for seeing the deal through and supporting his efforts by saying “This legislation will strengthen our global nuclear non-proliferation efforts, protect the environment, create jobs and assist India in meeting its growing needs in a responsible manner.”
China’s Ridong Groups put Mao’s plane for sale
Beijing (AFP): The Chinese group of Ridong Group has decided to sell off the personal plane that belonged to Mao Zedong, the founder of Modern China. The 46 meter long airplane was brought by China from Pakistan in 1969.
The reason cited by the company’s official for the sale of the airplane was “There are not enough parking spaces, so we decided to sell the plane,” but no comment was made regarding the prospective buyers of the airplane.
Indian forces kill 14 militants
Srinagar (Agencies): Indian forces finally succeeded in killing 13 militants after a week long fierce battle in the high Himalayas. 1 Indian soldier also died in the pursuit. The Indian Military in its official statement said “The operation is being conducted in inhospitable, harsh and treacherous terrain at an altitude up to 15,000 feet.”
