Zardari seeks temporary relief of $100 billion by International community
New York: While speaking at an interview with the WSJ Pakistani President said that he is looking for temporary relief for the country to meet the budgetary deficit of the country, he said “I’m looking for temporary relief for my budgetary support and cash for my treasury which does not need to be spent by me.” The President reiterated on the need of $100 billion grant that would ensure the country’s survival.
Pakistan receives $ 500 million from Asian Development Bank
Islamabad: Asian Development Bank has release $500 million out the the approved amount of $1.5 billion for Pakistan. The bank approved the amount to help Pakistan absorb the impact of rising prices of fuel and food. Quite surprisingly the inflow of funds have not been mentioned in the latest foreign exchange data released by the bank. However the bank’s data did show that the foreign reserves have diminished by $ 690 million.
Pakistan and India must become good friends - asserts US secretary of State
New Delhi: While visiting India, to celebrate the signing up of the US-India nuclear deal, the US secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice asserted on the importance of peace and harmony in the region. While speaking to the joint press conference with the Indian premier she said, “ We have stakes in a successful civilian government in Pakistan, We all have an interest in controlling terrorism in the region and a good relationship between India and Pakistan is going to help in combating cross border terrorism.”
Poll proves Pakistanis frustration on war against terror
Washington (AP): The poll conducted by Gallop Organization have proved that most of the Pakistani think that US has been the main beneficiary in the war against terror.The polls was conducted in June and showed that most of the Pakistanis think that the presence of the US forces was a threat for the country while only 17 percent think that the US military presence was not a threat for the country’s sovereignty.
Pakistan’s new government a US puppet says American Al-Qaeda figure
Dubai (Reuters): In an internet video posted on the Internet Adam Gadahn, the US Al-Qaeda figure said that the new civilian Pakistani government is a US puppet. He said, “The Pakistan Army … and the professional spreaders of lies at their service are trying to make us believe that the state of Pakistan has turned a new leaf (after US-allied former President Pervez Musharraf left power). “Their battle has always been and remains to be America’s battle, not Pakistan’s. And this battle (against militants) is what has brought Pakistan to the verge of break-up.”
