Nawaz play key role with Saudi King in resolving Karzai - Taliban issue

Islamabad: On the invitation of the Saudi King, the chief of PML-N Nawaz Sharif prolonged his stay in Saudi Arabia. He is playing a major role along with King Abdullah in bringing a resolve between the Taliban and Karzai administration. According to news reports secret talk between the Karzai administration and Taliban had been held in Saudi Arabia where both the sides agreed to settle their disputes paving way for withdrawal of Nato and US troops from Afghanistan.

Mian Nawaz Sharif held 90 minutes meeting with the King in which the current political and economic situation of Pakistan, wave of terrorists attacks and Afghanistan situation was discussed. According to the sources Nawaz Sharif has the backing from Washington and UK in this regards.

Terror reigns in Punjab - MNA’s house attacked by suicide bomber

Bhakkar, Punjab: A suicide bomber entered into the guest room of the MNA of the Punjab government along with the locals who had come to offer Eid greeting to the Punjab parliamentarian and pulled the trigger of the bomb while attempting to get close to the MNA. He blew himself off, killing 22 people and injuring 62. Mr. Nawani, the Punjab MNA was injured while his secretary was killed in the blast.

Qazi Hussain Ahmed - Chief of Jamat -e-Islami begins protests against PPP government’s failure

Peshawar: The Jamat-i-Islami has today begun its ‘Train March’ protesting against failure of the PPP led government to check the economic, political situation in the country. While speaking to the press, Qazi Hussain Ahmed said that his party has taken up the task of highlighting the important issues due to which Musharraf government failed to retain his office and the present government though, had promised to bring relief for the common man and resolve the issues but have drastically failed to resolve the problems, but in fact the economic and security of problems of the country have multiplied.

The party along with their leader began the train march from Peshawar which will end at Karachi. The procession is expected to reach Karachi by October 20, 2008.

Security forces kill six militants in ‘militia uniforms’ during cleanup operation

Khar, NWFP: 6 militants were killed, arms and ammunition and Afghan currency was seized during the clean up operation by the security forces in Bajaur tribal region. The security forces launched their operation in the Lowi Sam area which was considered to be the stronghold of the militants. They succeeded in destroying the sanctuaries.

Stocks did not show any positivity on the first day of trading after Eid

Karachi: Pre Eid sentiments ruled the stock exchange. Stock continued their dull rally dropping the index by 0.71 points bringing the KSE-100 index to 9,178.97 points. The stock exchange registered trading of 1.561 million shares yesterday.
