Monterrey, Mexico (CaymanMama.com) — Hurricane season is still upon us and another story of violent weather is now coming from the Gulf coast as Tropical Storm Marco made landfall in Mexico on Tuesday bringing with it sustained winds of nearly 65 miles per hour and is while it traveled in a west-northwest direction at about eight miles per hour moving towards Mexico’s interior, where NHC forecasters said it was likely to dissipate Wednesday.
Tropical Storm Marco quickly moved over the waters of the Gulf of Mexico before charging ashore about 55 miles north-northwest of Veracruz, according to the Miami-based National Hurricane Center (NHC).
Marco is the latest in a series of powerful and destructive storms to beat up the Gulf of Mexico during the torrential 2008 hurricane season which included devastating Hurricanes Gustav and Ike. These two hurricanes caused severe damage to the tune of millions of dollars in the tropical countries of Haiti, Cuba and to the United States.
In late August, Tropical storm Julio killed one person in northern Mexico and uprooted roads and homes as it barrelled through the northwestern state of Baja California.
