Parliamentarian to receive in camera briefing my Pakistani military today
Islamabad: At 5PM today, both the houses of parliament will meet to be briefed by the military on the security issues and share secrets about the blood shed in the northern areas of Pakistan. The Prime Minister of Pakistan will address the joint session at the end of the briefing session. The government has issued passes for some non parliamentarians to attend as the session. Mian Nawaz Sharif, leader of PML-N will also be attending the briefing session.
Governor of State Bank of Pakistan confident about the strength of Banking sector of Pakistan
Karachi: Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, in a press statement has reposed confidence in the banking sector of the country. The press statement says “There should not be any cause for concern about the stability of the banking system in the coming days.”
The statement was made by the governor of the State Bank of Pakistan after the turmoil in the banking sector of the developed countries. Dr. Akhtar speaks highly of Pakistani banks saying that the banking system in Pakistan has shown strong performance and holds promising outlook.
Shaukat Tareen to be appointed as adviser to the PM on Finance
Islamabad: The weakening financial outlook of Pakistan has forced the government to take serious measure to bring the derailed Pakistani economy back on tracks. Mr. Shaukat Tareen who heads the Saudi Pak Commercial Bank and had held key posts in the Habib Bank and Union Bank and was previously the country head of CitiBank in Thailand is likely to appointed as the adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance. Mr. Tareen also heads the Economic coordination committee.
Chief of ANP comes out strong after the suicide bomb attack
Peshawar: Asfandyar Wali, the chief of Awami National Party while speaking to a crowded press conference yesterday said that negotiations are necessary for lasting peace in the country but he will not sub scum to pressure, Not deal will be made at gun point. He said He said: “My enemies crossed all limits to get me killed, but God … protected me. I am alive and well … but my enemies may again try to kill me. Let me make one thing clear: I will not surrender to threats.”
Karachi Stock Exchange reacts to some rays of hope
Karachi: A slight upward trend was witnessed at the Stock Exchange in Karachi when the share index rose by 2.51 points bringing the KSE-100 index to 9,181.48 points. The reaction was of the market was due to the assurance by the finance minister that Rs. 20 billion fund will be available for the market soon.
