Las Vegas, Nevada (CaymanMama.com) — With the help of Google and all of the programs the company has engineered, seeing the earth down to the smallest detail has never been easier.

Now, with the click of a mouse, users will be able to use a free Google service that will allow them to view maps and utilize navigation services.

According to a recent report by the AFP, a satellite sponsored by Google has successfully beamed its first image back to Earth in a successful test of a camera which will supply pictures and images for the Internet giant’s free online map and navigation services.

A high-res image in full color sent form GeoEye-1, launched in early September from a California U.S. Air Force base, was of a university campus located in Pennsylvania, as per a statement from a GeoEye Inc. satellite operator.

“We expect the quality of the imagery to be even better as we continue the calibration activity,” said Brad Peterson, GeoEye’s vice president of operations.

Due to heightened national security concerns, GeoEye-1’s governmental clients are expected to receive higher resolution photos than commercial clients such as Google, which intends to use the images on its Google Maps and Google Earth programs.
