This years Nobel Price for literature goes to France’s Le Ceizio

Stockholm (AFP): The Noble price for Literature for the year 2008 was went to the French author Jean Marie Gustave Le Clezia. The Swedish Academy praised the author by describing him as “author of new departures, poetic adventure and sensual ecstasy, explorer of a humanity beyond and below the reigning civilization”. The author, on this occasion spoke through the Swedish Radio said that “It’s a great honor for me, I’m sincerely grateful to the Nobel Academy.”

10,700 children hospitalized due to tainted milk in China

Beijing (Reuters) Approximately 10,700 children in China and milk products world wide got affected by the tainted milk in China. The Chinese authorities are doing everything possible to bring the situation back to normal by taking control over the situation and covering up the loose ends that had led to the tainted milk scandal earning bad name for the country

Ex-ministers and ex government officials line up for the blessings of the former Nepal King

Kathmandu (Reuters): Nepal’s former King Gyanendra and his wife Komal blessed over 5000 people on an important Hindu festival. Ex-ministers and senior government officials lined up in front of the Kings private residence and waited to greet him on the 10th day of Dasain festival.

Forced religious conversions earn bad name for India

Cuttack (India) Christians in India are forced to convert their religion. The Hindu extremists approach them with the threat to convert to the Hindu religion of face death. Almost 35 people have been killed in the series of religious attacks. According to the reports gathered, the witnesses said “They told us if you do not become a Hindu we will hack you to death.” The poor Christian community is forced to live in shelters and refugee camps in Orissa state.

Chinese Muslim detainee’s release blocked by US court

Washington (AFP) The US court of appeals have blocked the release of Muslim Chinese detainees who are imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay prison. The courts order that was issued in this regards said “The purpose of this administrative stay is to give the court sufficient opportunity to consider the merits of the motion for stay pending appeal and should not be construed in any way as a ruling on the merits of that motion.”

These 17 detainees were declared ‘no longer enemy combatants’ and their release orders were issued way back in 2004.
