Jackson, Mississippi (CaymanMama.com) — Time is money, just ask Barack Obama.

In a recent report by Reuters, the Obama campaign has purchased some real estate–on television. The presidential campaign will pay NBC and CBS to the tune of nearly $1 million each for a half-hour advertisement buy on prime time television on October 29th. This information is per documentation made available to the media by the networks.

The prices that were mutually agreed upon are substantially more than the price an average advertiser would be charged for a half-hour time buy, which is rare in broadcast network primetime in the first place. The fees are determined by the “lowest unit cost” that is required under federal law.

Have no fear, football fans. The NFL wasn’t about to be put aside for any presidential plugs. According to the report, “The campaign’s ad buyer GMMB of Washington, D.C., first approached CBS as well as NBC, ABC and Fox for half-hour time buys on Thursday, October 30, Sunday, November 2 and Monday, November 3 — the latter just one day before the election. But Sunday’s ‘roadblock’ of ads had been deemed unworkable due to NFL football on NBC during primetime and possibly late-running games on both CBS and Fox.”

Barack Obama’s presidential campaign declined to provide further details, but did note that they bought time on CBS and were still in negotiations with other networks.
