UK takes controlling stakes in Private Banks in return of Bailout money
London: The government of UK has stepped in to partially nationalize some private banks that have received bail out money. The government has pumped in 27 billion pounds in to the ailing banking sector. Royal Bank of Scotland, Lloyds TSB and HBOS are the major beneficiary of the bail out package.
Indian PM covers up for ethnic violence in India
New Delhi: The Indian PM while blaming the extremists for the clashes of Hindus with the Christian and Muslim communities said “Perhaps the most disturbing and dangerous aspect today is the assault on our composite culture… we see fault-lines developing between, and among, communities.” He forgot to mention the non tolerant attitude of Hindus towards other communities in the so called multi cultural or multi cast country of India.
The violence fueled by the Hindu extremists shows the other side of the artificial acceptance of other communities in the Hindu majority country.
Paul Krugman - US economist and critic of Bush gets Economics Nobel Prize
Stockholm (AFP): Mr. Paul Krugman, US economist won the Economic Nobel on Monday who is a professor at Princeton University. “Krugman had formulated a new trade analysis theory determining the effects of free trade and globalization, as well as the driving forces behind the worldwide urbanization,” read the citation of the Nobel jury.
Thailand receives ultimatum to withdraw troops or face attack
Phnom Penh: Thailand has received an ultimatum from the Cambodian Prime Minister. Prime Minister Hun Sen gave Thailand 24 hours to withdraw its troops from the disputed land. The PM said “Thai troops must withdraw from Cambodian land by tomorrow at the latest, we will not allow them to occupy our land.” The Thai army has denied any incursion
The Thai army spokesman commented by saying “Invasion? What invasion when the land is claimed by both sides?
The stand off begun with the Thai army building up troops near the boarder. According to the reports published by news agencies around 1000 soldiers from both the sides have faced off since July.
MP3 can cause hearing problems in Youth
Brussels (Reuters) Listing to the PM3 players at high volume for more than 5 hours a week can cause permanent hearing loss in the youth. The EU scientist revealed on Monday that the children and the youth should be protected from the ‘leisure noise’. The report revealed “There has been increasing concern about exposure from the new generation of personal music players which can reproduce sounds at very high volumes without loss of quality. Risk for hearing damage depends on sound level and exposure time.”
