Denver, Colorado (CaymanMama.com) — In a breaking news headline from Apple Inc., the much-anticipated MacBook laptop will have a larger glass “multi-touch” trackpad and a faster graphics chipset from Nvidia.
In another new element that consumer will appreciate, the price tag has been lowered to $999, $100 less than the last set of MacBooks.
During an Apple event at the company’s headquarters on Tuesday, Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs made sure to cast light on the new glass track pad which mirrors the functions of the iPhone in that it comprehends multi-finger movements used for spinning around and zooming pictures and graphics.
The graphics deliver 32 parallel graphics cores and 125 gigaflops of graphics performance. Jobs said that using the 9400M you get five hours of battery life and four hours with the 9600M.
As per MacWorld.com, “the MacBook Pro will have all the features you’ve come to expect from an Apple notebook like like backlit keyboards, magnetic latch, motion sensor, speakers, iSight and microphone. Apple is also adding a mini display port on the new models.”
Jobs also noted that Apple moved over from Intel Corp. to Nvidia Corp. as the main supplier of MacBook and all Apple laptop graphics chips. According to a blog on Yahoo Tech, “Jobs said the change speeds up processing-intensive activities — playing popular 3-D video games, for example — as much as six-fold.”
The MacBook Pros are reported to be shipping today.
