Frontier Crimes Regulation changes suggested by the Cabinet committee
Islamabad: The Prime Minister of Pakistan in his speech had hinted on the amendments in the FCR. After receiving a nod from the PM the cabinet committee has put forward it recommendations of major changes in the FCR. The changes will include the allowing the right of appeal against actions of political agents and the district coordination officers.
Sacred cows to be eliminated - Agriculture and real estate to be taxed says Tareen
Washington: The agriculture and the real estate sector will be brought into the tax net. The step will be taken in order to improve the national economy. While speaking to the press after concluding a meeting with the IMF and the World Bank in Washington, Mr. Shaukat Tareen, the adviser to the PM on Finance said “Not even agriculture?” he was asked. “No sacred cows. Real estate, agriculture, all will be taxed.”
Pakistan claims return of stolen water for next sowing season
Lahore: Pakistan’s Indus water commissioner Syed Jamaat Ali Shah, while speaking to the press on Monday said that Pakistan will do every thing possible to get back the stolen water from India. He said that India will have to compensate Pakistan during the coming Rabi season. Otherwise, Islamabad will resort to other treaty mechanisms to get its due share.”
In-camera session spells military’s achievement and not the government’s policy on war against terror - PML-N
Islamabad: The Pakistan Muslim League (N)’s information secretary Mr. Ahsan Iqbal expressed dissatisfaction on the in-camera parliamentary session being held and said that we are not interested to hear about the achievement of the security forces, we should know what is the governments policy on the war against terror. Mr. Ahsan said that once the briefing by the government is over, PML-N would like to step forward to give its suggestion on so-called war against terror. The PML-N wants the military action to be halted.
Karachi Stock Exchange opens up on Monday - registers modest gain of 2.89 points
Karachi: The Stock Market in Karachi opened up on Monday amid rumors that the market might be closed for indefinite period. The market witnessed a modest rise in its share price index. The gain of 2.89 points was witnessed. The trading volume mostly consisted of undervalued shares. The KSE-100 index rose to 9,184.24 points.
