Regrettable last resort to pull back ailing financial institutions in the US

New York (Reuters): The US acts to bail out the financial institutions in the country. The government has stepped in by buying stakes in the privately held private institutions. The step is being termed as the last resort. The US President in his televised address said “This is an essential short-term measure to ensure the viability of America’s banking system, these measures are not intended to take over the free market but to preserve it.”

Israel builds Synagogue in Masjid Al-Aqsa premises

Riyadh: Within 50 meters of Masjid Al-Aqsa, Israeli government is building Synagogue. The Muslim world has made its protests in this regards. The OIC secretary general has termed the step as an aggression against the Mairaj of the holy Prophet Muhammaed (PBUH).

Russia withdraws claim from disputed stretch of land boarding Russian city of Khabarocsk

Moscow (AFP) Ending it age old dispute with China, Russia handed over the stretch of land at China’s North Eastern tip which is close to the Russian city of Khabarovsk. Russia’s foreign ministry said in a statement that “This event completes the delineation and the legal establishment of all parts of the Russian-Chinese border, which is over 4,300 kilometres long, the border issue, a historical legacy that had been left to Russia and China, has received its complete and final resolution.”

US perusing to bring change in the Arab World

Dubai (AFP): The fifth forum for bringing political reforms in the Arab World will be held in the UAE. The forum begins this weekend and will be co-chaired by Japan and UAE. Mr. Ali Fakhro, the Bahraini activist and the former minister said, “Since its launch in 2004, the Forum for the Future has not produced the anticipated results. The promised big democratic changes did not take place.”

According to the news agency “The forum will focus on “the progress accomplished in the realm of political reforms, including the expansion of popular participation” and the empowerment of women in the political, economic and social domains, according to the program.”

Proposal to extend period of detention without charge rejected by the House of Lords

London: The proposal of extending the detention period for terror suspects without any charge from 28 to 42 days was rejected by the House of Lords yesterday with 118 votes in favor and 309 against the proposal.
