Dallas-based DVD duplication company is looking outside of the box and looking to diversify.

Dallas, Texas (CaymanMama.com) — Ryan Anderson, director of sales for Duplium Corporation, one of the world’s largest optical media manufactures of CD and DVD products, sees a tough economy rising raw material costs and technology that is going to be replaced. Sounds depression, doesn’t it?

Duplium and Anderson say ‘not so fast!’

“We are beginning to see the lean economy come into play here at Duplium,” says Anderson. “From an operational standpoint, we are battening down the hatches with all costs. With anything from energy to consumables, we have reduction programs in place.

You would be amazed how much you can reduce your monthly expenditure by really watching what you’re spending.” Although Duplium is doing what they can to reduce costs of products, they are being hit with increased raw material costs at every turn.

The product Duplium manufactures is plastic; plastic comes from poly carbonate which is made from benzene, which is made from oil. Duplium’s poly carbonate costs have been on the rise for years, yet prices have been diving. That may sounds like doom and gloom to most.

At Duplium, the company is looking outside of the box and looking to diversify. They have recently brought digital print in-house as well has receiving their Nintendo certification last year. Duplium has become a popular destination for game companies to have their products assembled and distributed.

“We are taking full advantage of our North American presence and are working on some larger packaging and distribution deals that have nothing to do with optical media,” Anderson explained. “We are working hard to provide a platform for a transition period at the same time dealing with the reality of a recession. There are three things that get you through tough times. Hard work, lean operations, and sales.”

Duplium has a few other tricks up their sleeves that they believe in and look forward to launching in the upcoming months.

“Although I never served at Duplium, we believe in the marine corp saying, ‘Adapt, Improvise, and Overcome.’ We feel if we all put our heads together and keep them together, the sky is the limit.”
