Corpus Christi, Texas (CaymanMama.com) — As if the iPhone wasn’t a cool gadget already making it a total trendsetter, Google has added its brand to the usability arsenal by releasing a a custom Google Earth application for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

By beginning with a mobile-ready and fully functional version of the Google Earth geographical software, users will also be able to physically tilt their iPhone in order to adjust their browsing view such as mountainous terrain.Users can also instantly jump to their current location by using the ‘My Location” feature and will have access to the Google local search engine.

Panoramio and Wikipedia were added in order to allow geo-located and exceptionally high quality photos and information research.

According to CNET, “Google Earth for iPhone has a small Webkit-based browser to show the specific information users click on, and includes a link to the Safari browser Apple builds into the iPhone. When you click the address of a business using the local search engine, the iPhone will intercept the command and show it on the Google Maps application, enabling you to get directions instantly.”

There is no charge for the Google Earth application and is currently available in all supported languages (18 in all) and will eventually be released for 22 countries in total.

Those iPhone users who are interested in the application should check the iTunes App Store to see if it is available in their market.
