HBO has bought the rights to a back stage pass look at Obama’s campaign.

Louisville, Kentucky (CaymanMama.com) — President-elect Barack Obama isn’t only having songs written for him. He is taking over the entertainment world by storm.

In a recent report by the Associated Press, HBO has purchased the rights to a behind-the-scenes documentary on Obama’s presidential campaign from actor Edward Norton’s production company.

Until Obama’s inauguration on Jan. 20th, filming will continue with a projected premiere sometime next spring, the network said Friday. HBO reportedly paid approximately $1 million to release the yet-to-be-titled film.

“Director Amy Rice, working for Norton’s Class 5 Films, had contacted Obama about a potential documentary even before he decided to run for president, HBO said. When Obama started his campaign and it became a success, Rice and fellow director Alicia Sams found themselves in the right place at the right time.”

The filmakers have spent an “unprecedented” amount of personal access to the candidate, the Obama family, friends and campaing volunteers over the past 2 1/2 years, HBO said. Sam Pollard, editor of HBO’s “When the Levees Broke,” is the film editor.
