Leukemia patient - 13 years old girl chooses death over treatment
London: Hannah, 13 years old girl, leukemia patient was allowed by the court to choose death over life. The hospital’s attempt to force her to undertake a life saving heart transplant failed when the court granted the girl her wish to die with ‘dignity’. She was sent home to spend the rest of the days with her parents.
Queen Sesheshet, King Teti’s mother Pyramid unearthed
Saqqara (Egypt): Pharaoh’s mother’s tomb, a pyramid that is believed to the last resting place of Queen Sesheshet was discovered by the Egyptian archaeologists. The pharaoh who ruled 4,000 years during the period of 2323 to 2291 BC. The Egypt’s antiquities chief, Zahi Hawass said “The only queen whose pyramid is missing is Shesheshet, which is why I am sure it belonged to her. This will enrich our knowledge about the Old Kingdom.”
Buddha Boy is back
Kathmandu (AFP): The boy who is believed to carry Buddha like power has resurface after a period of 3 years, where he was meditating in private. Eighteen year old boy named Ram Bahadur Bomjam became famous in 2005 when his family claimed that Ram could meditate for months without sleeping, eating or drinking water. The French TV journalist although filmed him eating fruit and sleeping during the period of his private meditation.
“ipill” capsule developed
Amsterdam (Reuters): Philips have developed ‘Intelligent pill’ - the ‘ipill’ fitted with microprocessor, battery, wireless radio, pump and drug storage area. The capsule has the capability of measuring acidity and releasing specific relatively smaller doses of medication, reducing after effects. Philips plans to introduce ‘ipill’ at the annual meeting of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) in Atlanta in November.
Karzai’s signature will lead more than 100 Afghan to death sentence
Kabul (Reuters): Over a 100 Afghans prisoners who have been detained for their crimes of murder, rape, kidnapping etc are awaiting death sentence. Afghan President has yet to sign their death warrants. The Afghan supreme court judge said “We have 125 people who have been sentenced by various courts to the death penalty and are to be executed after Karzai’s approval.”
