New York: On the sidelines of Interfaith summit, President Asif Ali Zardari met important officials of the US administration and had a telephonic discussion with John Kerry, the key member of Obama transition team. In his meeting with Robert Kimmitt, the President discussed issues relating to global economy and also appraised him of the Pakistan Government’s plan of steps being taken to bring macro economic stability.

21 militants killed and many injured in fresh operation in Mohmand agency

Charsadda: In a fresh attack launched by the Pakistani security forces aided by helicopter gunships and tanks to root out the insurgents 21 militants have been reported killed and many have been inured. According to the unofficial sources only 7 foreign militants have died in the new attack while there were many civilian casualties.

Hillary Clinton forward assurance of early approval of $15 billion aid package

New York: On Friday, Hillary Clinton and Zardari discussed Pakistan’s economic situation. The US Senator appreciated the government’s efforts in bringing stability to Pakistan and assured the Pakistani President that she will work for the early approval of $15 billion aid package for Pakistan.

Karachi placed on 57 spot in the mega cites list & among top 13 most polluted city

United Nations: The environment report by the United Nations have listed Karachi among the most polluted city “atmospheric brown cloud (ABS) ‘hotspot’. Other cities named by the UN include Kolkata, Mumbai, Seoul, Shanghai, Lagos, Dhaka, Cairo, Bangkok, Beijing, Tehran and Shenzhen. The report adds that the 3 kilometer thick brown cloud of man made pollution stretches from Western Pacific Ocean to Arabian Peninsula impacting human health and also melting Himalayan Glaciers.

Stock trading end at a dull note - no fresh commitment by the investors

Karachi; The investors are seen waiting for the removal of the floor and the promised funds by the government of Pakistan. Friday once again witnessed dull trading session with investors making no new commitments. The KSE-100 index remain on 9,184.09 points.
