Aafia Siddiqui not fit for trial
New York: Psychiatrists evaluation on Aafia Siddiqui condition state that she is mentally unfit to stand trials. Dr. Aafia Siddiqui - the US trained neuroscientist was detained by the US authorities on grounds that she assaulted US personnel during interrogation.
Her psychiatrist report states ‘Aafia Siddiqui, 36, is ‘not currently competent to proceed as a result of her mental disease, which renders her unable to understand the nature and consequences of the proceedings against her.’

Islamabad: The Ministry of Religious Affairs is in news again, this time for the illegal sale of annual pilgrimage forms foe sums of Rs.30,000 each to the tour operator against their annual quota. forbid many deserving poor pilgrims for proceeding to Haj.

Washington: With the mid level diplomats from the Friends of Pakistan countries met in Abu Dhabi to discuss proposal of exploring the investment opportunities in a bid to recover the ailing economy of Pakistan. The friends of Pakistan group that met in Abu Dhabi included Britain, France, Germany, the United States, China, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, Turkey, Australia and Italy plus the United Nations and the European Union.
Pakistan economic growth declines - Industrial output dips by 6.20%
Islamabad: Federal Bureau of Statistic report indicates a slow down in the industrial output of Pakistan by 6.20%. This drop is inline with the prediction by IMF that Pakistan’s economy is facing difficulties and the global financial and economic crises will further aggravate the situation.
The rise in the cost of production mainly due to the increase in power tariff and the increase in the interest rates are named to be the main factors for the slow down in the industrial growth of the country.
Local TV channels transmission cut off - Marking anniversary of Emergency measures imposed by former President Pervaiz Musharraf
Islamabad: Exactly one year after the emergency measure imposed by the former President of Pakistan to show is might and power when he cut off the local TV channels transmission. On the same date that is November 17, 2008, two local TV channels transmission were cut off again. The Geo TV network and ARY Digital remained off air for some time. The cable operators when asked for the reason for cutting off the transmission replied that they receive telephone call from the government agencies to discontinue the transmission.
Mr. Rehman Malik, adviser to the PM on interior and the Information Minister Sherry Rehman have instructed the concerned departments to lodge an inquiry and report the finding immediately.
