Miami, Florida (CaymanMama.com) — The CyberKnife Center of Miami participated in the Caribbean Association of Neurosurgeons Conference in Aruba recently with a presentation entitled “An Update on the Cyberknife for CNS Indications.” Dr. Silvio Garcia, radiation oncologist, of Palm Beach County was the presenter.

The Conference attendees were from Aruba, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Columbia, North Dakota, the Netherlands and Latvia. They came together to promote and foster friendly relations between neurosurgeons from different regions, as well as exchange the latest information on new developments in the treatment of neurological disorders .

The CyberKnife Center of Miami is an outpatient facility that provides state-of-the-art image guided robotic radiosurgery. The CyberKnife is effective in treating patients who have recurrent or inoperable brain and spinal tumors, as well as tumors of the head and neck, lung, liver, prostate, and other areas.

The Caribbean Association of Neurosurgeon’s promotes the development of neurological surgery in accordance with the standards of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies in the Caribbean. This occurs through annual conferences and the exchange of ideas between members with the goal of improving the quality of neurosurgical care delivered to patients in the region.
