Karachi: Pakistan cricket board, today, got verbal commitment from BCCI (Board of Control of Cricket in India) that Indian cricket team will honor its commitment and visit Pakistan to play 3 test matches, 5 one day International cricket tournaments and 1 Twenty20 International early next year.

The India tour to Pakistan had been decided earlier but after looking at the depleting law and order situation in Pakistan the Indian team like other cricket teams of the world had shown reluctance to visit Pakistan.

Upon intervention of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and with persistent persuasions from the Pakistan cricket board, the BCCI finally decided to go ahead with the scheduled tour of Pakistan early next year.

The cricket scene had become shady for Pakistan after the ICC postponed the champions trophy which was scheduled to be held in March-April after 5 teams out of eight refused to come to Pakistan to play the matches.

India had recently blocked the tour of its junior hockey team to Pakistan citing security problems.

The Indian cricket team will now be visiting Pakistan in January - February in 2009
