Gilani not to take NRO protection in corruption cases filed against him
Islamabad (Dawn Report): The Pakistani Prime Minister, Yusuf Raza Gilani has decided that he will not seek protection under NRO for corruption cases filed against him and let his lawyer fight the cases and the court to decide his corruption cases on merit. The National accountability bureau said that if the PM want to contest the case, the NAB will defend the conviction as Mr. Giliani misused his authority as the speaker of the National assembly by appointing several people to different government posts, misused official vehicles and telephones.
India habitually points accusing finger at Pakistan for Mumbai attacks
Islamabad (Dawn Report): As usual, the Indian authorities and the Indian security forces point fingers at Pakistan for the Mumbai terrorists attacks. Manmohan Singh, the Indian PM also stated that “attacks against Mumbai were based ‘outside the country and warned ‘neighbors for providing shelter to the militants.”
With the too soon accusation had earlier also given India a bad face when the final investigation led to find that their own army personnel’s involvement in the carrying out the terrorist activities inside India.
The Pakistani foreign minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi has asked India not to point fingers at Pakistan as ‘Our experience in the past tells us that we should not jump to conclusions.’
5 Militants killed in a roadside bomb blast
Wana (Dawn Report): The local people in the South of Waziristan reported that 5 militants died when their vehicle hit the road side land mine. The locals also contradicted media reports that militants were killed in US drone attacks as there was no planes in sight at the time of explosions. The militants belonged to Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan of Baitullah Mehsud.
Agricultural tax not a pre condition by IMF
Islamabad (Business Recorder): While talking about the IMF conditions and imposing taxes on agricultural income, real estate and stock exchange, the adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance, retracted from his earlier comments and statements. He now told the press that imposing tax on agriculture will come when agriculture will become profitable. “There is no pre-condition from the International Monetary Fund.”
The Index at Karachi stock exchange remains unchanged
Karachi (Business Recorder): The stock at the Karachi Stock Exchange posted the same picture as the day early with the KSE-100 index remaining unchanged at 9,187.10 points. The number of share traded increased to 82,500 in yesterdays session.
The investors remained in grip of uncertainty about the floor removal.
