Pakistani President doubts if any Pakistani is involved in Mumbai attacks

Washington (The Dawn, Karachi): President Asif Ali Zardari, while speaking at CNN’s Larry King said that he doubts if the captured gunman is Pakistani. He also said, ‘I think these are stateless actors who have been operating throughout the region. The gunmen, whoever they are, they are all stateless actors who are holding hostage the whole world.’ ‘The state of Pakistan is no way responsible,’ he said.

The President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan also maintained that they are waiting for any tangible proof from India that could point out the direction and show the involvement of Pakistan.

Major political parties, the armed forces and government of Pakistan stand united - All parties conference

Islamabad (The Dawn, Karachi): At the time when Pakistan is facing International challenges and the threat of possible Indian military activity on the borders of Pakistan, the All Parties conference was held a the Prime Ministers House, yesterday, in which all the major political parties joined hands to stand firm along side the Pakistan’s armed forces and the government of Pakistan to face the forthcoming challenges.

The All Party Conference also resulted in resolving that government of Pakistan push forward for friendly relationship with India.

Militants vow to fight along side Pakistan’s armed forces if Pakistan is attacked by India

Peshawar (The Dawn, Karachi): Militants who are right now creating havoc in Pakistan and who are responsible of killing many men from security forces and carrying out suicide bomb attacks have, in a statement issued by their leader said that they will fight for their country (Pakistan) alongside the Pakistani armed forces if India attacks Pakistan. The statements came from every militant group who is right now engaged in war with Pakistani forces in the tribal areas.

The statement issued by Qari Hussain, of Tehrik-e-Taliban read as, “We are fighting Pakistan Army because it has launched operations in our tribal areas but we cannot allow India or any other power to invade our country.

In fact, an Indian attack on Pakistan would help the cause of Taliban as it could force the army to stop military action in FATA and Swat.

However, we have no intention of exploiting such a situation because our priority would be to fight India. We were accused of getting Rs680 million from Indian intelligence agency, RAW, and assistance from Afghan government’s security services but we intend to fight India’s military and other enemies of Pakistan to prove that we were wrongly blamed as agents of India.”

IMF proposal for removing floor freeze renews investors interest - KSE-100 index remains stagnant

Karachi (Business Recorder): The law and order situation marred the business activities in the city, The trading at the Karachi stock exchange remain dull even thought the proposal by the IMF to remove the floor freeze by next week steered the interest of the investors

The KSE-100 index remained at 9,187.10 points with only 197,300 shares exchanging hands.

Security forces kill 6 militants in Swat

Mingora (The News Pakistan): In an operation against the militants, Pakistan security forces killed 6 militants. The official statement issued by the Swat Media Center which is run by the ISPR said that 6 militants and 6 other people including a woman and an army soldier died in the operation carried out by the security forces.
