President-elect Barack Obama and family are planning to take a family vacation in Hawaii
Portland, Oregon (CaymanMama.com) — After a long hard year of campaigning, traveling and giving thousands of hugs to the American public, president-elect Barack Obama and family are planning to take a family vacation in Hawaii.
Obama, wife Michelle and their two daughters will trade the Christmas tree for the palm tree by spending the holiday spend the far from frozen Lake Michigan for warmer waters with a luxurious beachside vacation with friends at one of Oahu’s most exclusive properties.
The last time Obama visited the islands was in October when he visited his ailing grandmother, Madelyn Payne Dunham. Dunham died at the age of 86 on November 2, only two nights before her grandson won the presidential election.
According to the Associated Press, “The Associated Press learned earlier this month that arrangements were being completed for the Obamas and the families of two or three friends to stay at a Kailua beachfront location with three modern, multimillion-dollar homes.
“Each wraps around a lagoon-style swimming pool, with palm trees, grassy lawns and retractable glass walls for postcard views of the white sand and windsurfers.”
The exclusive Hawaiian property which the Obama’s will be vacationing at located across the island from Honolulu, in a residential section of upscale Kailua. The 2.5-mile beach is popular tourist attraction and brings in local families as well having been rated by travel magazines as one of the best beaches in the world.
