Chicago (CaymanMama.com) — Sleep lovers get one more excuse to sleep extra hours. The Journal of the American Medical Association issued by the Christopher King and colleagues from the University of Chicago explains how and why. The research study undertaken  entitled Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults Study, (CARDIA) explains that some extra sleep protects the blood leading vessels of the heart against deposits of calcium. These calcium deposits are responsible for heart problems including heart attacks.

The sample test was conducted on males and female from age group of 35 to 47 years, with wrist bands tied to the wrist to measure the time of sleep and their heart conditions were studied through the CT scan of the heart. The study reveals that each additional hour of sleep reduces the risk of calcium deposits reduces by 33%.

The research study however proved that the coronary arteries remained protected during the sleeping time and also discovered the relationship between the quality of sleep and calcium deposits build up.
