Bristol Palin, 18, and boyfriend Levi Johnston welcomed Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston on Saturday
Phoenix, Arizona (CaymanMama.com) — The 18-year old daughter of former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is a new mom to a bouncing baby boy, a magazine reported Monday.
Bristol Palin, 18, and boyfriend Levi Johnston welcomed Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston on Saturday, People magazine reported online. He weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces. Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol’s grandmother, told the magazine that “the baby is fine and Bristol is doing well.”
In maintaining the family’s privacy, the governor’s office refused to release information as it considers the baby’s birth a private, family matter.
One of the highlights of the 2008 presidential election was Palin’s announcement on the first day of the Republican National Convention, that her unwed daughter was expecting. The Republican campaign released a statement saying Bristol “and the young man” intended to get married.
The announcement that the young and unmarried daughter of Sarah Palin was pregnant quickly drew concerns that had the distinct possibility of damaging Palin’s stance as a religious conservative. But many analysts thought the pregnancy was worked to humanize the Palin’s and highlight the candidate’s rejection of abortion.
