Massachusetts health officials have said that they now plan to require fast-food chains to display the nutritional information for their products

Boston, Massachusetts (CaymanMama.com) — Following in the health lead of trend setters like New York City and California, Massachusetts health officials have said that they now plan to require fast-food chains to display the nutritional information for their products on boards above the order counter.

As the health movement becomes an increasingly larger one being that obesity is one of the nation’s worst epidemics, this move is the newest of several proposals in a wholesome-eating initiative made public Thursday that Department of Public Health officials.

According to the Associated Press, “The parent company of Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins ice cream shops says the rules would unfairly burden its franchisees. Dunkin’ Brands Inc. of Canton says it already provides customers with nutritional information and has worked to develop low-calorie products.”

The regulations for the plan will go before the Public Health Council next week and may go effect this fall after the vote is finalized.
