San Francisco, California (CaymanMama.com) — A new iPhone card-counting app has casinos worried about the newest batch of poker faces after Nevada gambling regulators warned state casinos about the new program that runs on Apple Inc.’s iPhone and iPod Touch.
According to the Associated Press, the app illegally helps players beat the house in blackjack.
Under the gambling laws in the state of Nevada, card counting itself is not illegal, but it is considered a felony to use any tool that helps the player to cheat by counting cards.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board released a warning memo about the app last week. Nevada became aware of it through gambling regulators in California, where officials at an Indian casino observed players using it and notified state authorities.
In the game of blackjack, there are a few card counting techniques which help players determine their chances of winning a hand so that they may adjust their bets accordingly
