Supreme Court of Pakistan disqualifies Sharif Brothers from holding any public office

Islamabad: In a hasty courts decision, the controversial bench of judges at the supreme court of Pakistan, yesterday, ruled that the leaders of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Mian Nawaz Sharif and his brother, Shahbaz Sharif, the chief Minister of Punjab are ineligible to take part in elections nor they can hold any public office.

The President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari immediately imposed emergency in the Province of Punjab and governor of the provence was asked to take over the administration. The courts decision came with 2 days after the meeting held between Mr. Shahbaz Sharif and Yusuf Raza Gilani, Prime Minister of Pakistan, wherein the Prime Minister of Pakistan had assured the Chief Minister of Punjab that the PPP led government will not disturb the Punjab government.

The disqualification of the Sharif Brothers led to demonstrations against the government in cities of Punjab.

The Sharif Brothers while speaking to the press blamed Asif Ali Zardari for the courts decision said that ‘It’s not a judicial decision, but an edict’. He said that the President of Pakistan had offered a deal to the Chief Minister of Punjab for turing the courts verdict in favor of Shahbaz Sharif and Nawaz Sharif in return for support from Pakistan Muslim League (N) for extension in the term of the now chief justice of Pakistan. Mr. Nawaz Sharif said that it was after the negative response from their side, the courts ruled for their disqualification.

The President’s spokesman immediately refuted the allegation imposed on the President by Sharif Brothers.

India must respond to Pakistani questions within one month

Islamabad: Mr. Rehman Malik, the advisor to the PM on the interior said that India must respond to the questions put forward by Pakistan within 30 days so that the Mumbai attack suspects arrested by the Pakistan police in connection with Mumbai attacks can be interrogated during their physical remand.

He said, ‘We are committed to bringing the culprits of Mumbai attacks to justice; however, Indian cooperation is must in this regard. The Indian authorities must provide the reply of 30 questions asked by Pakistani Investigation Team, at the earliest so that the culprits could be given exemplary punishment.’

PPP moves to improve ties with PML-Q

Islamabad: After disqualification of Sharif Brothers and imposition of governor rule in Punjab, Asif Ali Zardari immediately convened a high level meeting of the senior office bearers of Pakistan Peoples Party. It was decided during the meeting that PPP will improve ties Pakistan Muslim League - Q leaders.

First test between Sri Lanka and Pakistan ends in a draw - Yusuf shines with 313 off his bat

Karachi: The first cricket test match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka ended in a draw though the cricket match gave the Pakistani team to come back into the game with the cricket team captain Yunus Khan scoring 313 runs. He was just 87 runs short of individual records made by the some other players. Yusuf had Brain Lara’s record of 400 run in sight when he was bowled out by Dihara Fernando.

Karachi Stock market responds to the political uncertainty of Pakistan

Karachi: The Supreme Court of Pakistan verdict of disqualification of Sharif brothers made the stock market to plunge by 5.01%. The KSE-100 index dipped by 294.05 points the index hovering around 5,580.78 points
