Deliberations Start for Minnesota Senate Case

Judges have begun deliberating in the case regarding the Senate seat dispute between Al Franken and Norm Coleman.

MesotheliomaCancerNews.com – The battle for the vacant Minnesota Senate seat may soon come to an end. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), deliberations have begun to determine whether Republican Norm Coleman provided sufficient proof of election errors that would make Democratic opponent Al Franken’s win invalid. A re-count in the 2008 election found Franken to have won the Senate race by 225 votes.

An attorney for Franken is quoted as stating of Coleman’s purported lack of evidence, “Their failure of proof is simply breathtaking.”

Joe Friedberg, Coleman’s attorney, is quoted by the AP as expressing the opposing view to judges, “All we need to prove, under your strict compliance standard, is that it is more likely than not that inside the envelope dwells the franchise of a proper voter… More likely than not.”

The judges began their deliberations following hearing closing arguments in the case on Friday.
