President Barack Obama made a pledge to the world and to the American people that he will repair the severely damaged European relations

Chicago, Illinois (CaymanMama.com) –Greeted by roaring cheers and applause, President Barack Obama made a pledge to the world and to the American people that he will repair the severely damaged European relations.

Obama stated that the world joined together after the 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center but then “we got sidetracked by Iraq.

“We must be honest with ourselves,” Obama said. “In recent years, we’ve allowed our alliance to drift.”

The busy U.S. president said that despite the feelings of discontent that were generated by Iraq, America and its allies must come together and join forces because “al-Qaida is still a threat.”

According to the Associated Press, “Speaking before a French and German audience at a town-hall style gathering, Obama also encouraged a skeptical Europe to support his revamped strategy for rooting out terrorism suspects in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and said Europe should not expect America to shoulder the burden of sending in combat troops by itself.”

“This is a joint problem,” Obama said following the NATO summit. “And it requires a joint effort.”

“I’ve come to Europe this week to renew our partnership,” Obama said, avoiding the tendency to beat around the bush that the relationship between the United States and Europe had soured, with blame on both the U.S. and Europe.
