President Barack Obama is slated to give a “glass-half-full” state of the economy speech with the goal of not being perceived as naive about nationwide problems

Cleveland, Ohio (CaymanMama.com) — President Barack Obama is slated to give a “glass-half-full” state of the economy speech with the goal of not being perceived as naive about nationwide problems still dulling the business sector.

The president will deliver his economic speech Tuesday at Georgetown University as his administration nears some 100 days in office.

Aides dubbed the address as a major speech but said the American public could expect to hear no significant policy announcements.

Instead, Obama’s aides said the speech would chart the state of the economy when Obama took his oath of office in January, measures towards improvement which his administration has taken in its first three months, and pending tasks that to be done to aid troubled sectors, including the housing, banking and financial industries.

“The president wants the opportunity to update the American people on where we are, what we have to do going forward, and lay out the steps that are being taken to help our economy recover,” said presidential spokesman Robert Gibbs.

According to a report by the Associated Press, “With Tuesday’s speech to students and faculty as well as labor, grassroots and political leaders, Obama essentially is trying to refocus the country on his economic agenda and domestic issues after two weeks that, both by design and circumstance, have been dominated by foreign affairs.”
