Pakistan must get in aggressive act to free the country from Taliban
Kabul (Dawn.com): US Army General David KcKieman, commander of over 70,000 Nato and the US troops in Afghanistan spoke about the Taliban sanctuaries inside Pakistan and how these safe havens were destabilizing the whole region. He said that Pakistan must put its act together and form an aggressive strategy to hit the Taliban and clean them out. He told the reporters that, ‘There must be an improved effort on the other side of the border against these safe havens that many of these insurgent groups operate from in Pakistan.’
He added, ‘I think it is safe to say there is an expectation that the government of Pakistan must erase these safe havens so that they are not a threat to their own country and the region. They will have the full support of the international community to do that.’
Sufi Mohammed says - Islam has no room for democracy
Mingora (Dawn.com): Address a jammed pack public gathering in Mingora, Swat, the chief of TNSM, Sufi Mohammed said that the Islam there is no democracy. He said that the 15 years old struggle has bourn results, democracy is an un-islamic system and the current judicial system is also not according to Sharia.
Muslim clerics declare suicide bomb blasts un Islamic
Karachi (Dawn.com): The MQM organized convention that was attended by many Muslim Cleric. The Muslim clerics declared the suicide bomb attacks un Islamic. During his address to the Ulema the Chief of MQM, spoke to the Muslim Scholars from his London office via telephone and said that MQM is not against Sharia but is against Talibanization and the ‘gun and stick’ sharia.
The Muslim scholars during the convention spoke against the suicide killing and termed it as un-Islamic act.
First wind powered electricity project inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Pakistan
Thatta (Dawn.com): Prime Minister, Yusuf Raza Gilani yesterday inaugurated Pakistan’s first wind powered electricity generation project which has been installed with the help of a Turkish company. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony the Prime Minister said that Pakistan is exploit other alternative sources of producing electricity. He said the government will exploit Gharo-Ketibunar wind corridor that has the potential of producing 50,000 MW of electricity.
Shedding his views about the Kalabagh Dam, the Prime Minister assured that Kalabagh Dam would not be built unless all provinces agree on the issue.
National judicial council rules that no judge will accept government postings after retirement
Islamabad (Dawn.com): Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry led the NJC meeting held yesterday in wake of developing a National Judicial Policy. The committee decided that no judge will accept the government offer for governorship in any province or hold any public office in future. While the committee met to decide upon better implementation of law and provision to provide fast and fair justice to common man, the Chief Justice said, ‘The existing laws are sufficient enough but require proper implementation and if they are followed properly it will automatically streamline the system and provide justice to the people.’
