Dallas, Texas (CaymanMama.com) — Often labeled “The Godfather of hairdressing”, Guy Mascolo, co-founder of Dallas-based salon chain Toni & Guy, passed away last Wednesday after suffering from a heart attack at his Dallas home.
The Mascolo family confirmed Guy’s death.
Guy Mascolo, 65, founded the elite hairdressing salon along with his brother Toni Mascolo in London in 1963.
The company would soon develop into a veritable empire which would grow from only a few salons in the 1970s and early 1980s to hundreds of salons across the nation.
Toni & Guy then launched a trademark hair care product line — TIGI. Guy and another brother, Bruno Mascolo, relocated to Dallas and based their U.S. operations there in 1983.
Relatives say Guy was an avid sportsman who had a special passion for football. He also was a talented musician and guitarist who wrote and composed music, relatives said in a press release.
