Pakistan set to move beyond Swat - Spreading army operation to Waziristan - Zardari

London (Dawn.com): In spite of the wide spread criticism over Swat operation and his famous begging bowl, Pakistani President has pledged that he would spread the army operation beyond Swat. He will make the army go and hit the targets of Al-Qaeda and Taliban in the tribal areas of Waziristan. While in London, he said, ‘We’re going to go into Waziristan, all these regions, with army operations, Swat is just the start. It’s a larger war to fight.’

Up till now over 1.7 million people have been displaced and the government of Pakistan needs house them, look after their day to day needs and also has to build up other facilities like health and sanitation. Pakistan.

The army power would also have to be developed and for this purpose the Pakistani President said, ‘We need to develop our capability and we need much more support,’ said Mr Zardari. ‘We need much, much more than the $1 billion (military aid) we’ve been getting, which is nothing. We’ve got 150,000 troops in (the tribal areas) — just the movement of that number would cost $1 billion.’

Police arrests 4 Al-Qaeda terrorists suspects in Karachi

Karachi (Dawn.com): Another attempt to rock the mega city of Karachi was foiled by the city police yesterday. 4 people, suspected to be Al-Qaeda suspects were arrested along with heavy arms and ammunition. The suspects divulged that they were here to target some high profile politicians and government installations.

Pakistan to face shortage of 3,500 MW shortage in the coming month

Islamabad (Dawn.com): For Pakistan, with the Pakistani leadership not interested in the betterment of the country, all is going wrong. Starting for law and order, health, education, development and electricity the whole infrastructure of Pakistan is badly shaken.

Pakistan is hard hit by power shortage and with the rising mercury level this year the government estimates that the power shortage might reach 3,500 MW and the country would face load shedding of about 10 hours a day

He was talking to media yesterday when he said, ‘We’ll ask in the conference what made the government to go for the extreme measure and that too at a time when President Zardari was visiting US President Obama.’

He said that the unthoughtful step on going ahead with all out war has displaced and killed lots of innocent people, the war has actually displaced the whole of Pakistan into a more unstable economic condition let alone the treat to the country, that has increased many folds.

Karachi Stock Exchange staged mixed trends on last day of the trading week

Karachi (Business Recorder): Marginal gain of 48.13 points was witnessed amid the mixed trend session where the index swayed at the both sides before finally settling at 7,177.64 points.
