Late, but US admits inconsistency in dealing with Pakistan
Washington: The US at last admitted having made mistakes in dealing with Pakistan. Acknowledging that US has wronged Pakistan the US secretary of State Hillary Clinton told the news conference that,‘Their security service and the military were encouraged to go after the Soviets in Afghanistan’ and when they withdrew in 1989, ‘we said thank you very much’.
Ms. Clinton spoke about the intentions of Al-Qaeda and Taliban and said, ‘They have not given up on their desire to inflict damage, harm and murder on the USA … this is how we see helping our friends and allies … we have walked away in the past … now we are going to forge a partnership with the government and the people of Pakistan.’
Security forces capture 5 fleeing veil clad Arab terrorists
Ghalanai: During the military operation in Swat, the security forces yesterday killed 13 militants, while 5 Arab terrorists were also captured while they were trying to escape. These terrorists disguised themselves as women wore veils during the escape attempt. An Afghan national and Swat local man was also arrested.
Tarin aims at bringing easier access to finance for poor people in Pakistan
Islamabad: While discussing the budget and setting up a date to the budget announcement, Shaukat Tarin, said that, ‘Preparations for the budget have almost been completed but the final budget announcement date would be decided soon.’ The financial illegal remittances by the organized hundi and hawala sectors and friends and families. He also recalled that the world bank report has called for easier access of finance to the poor people in Pakistan.
Export of wheat no allowed by the Economic Coordination committee
Islamabad: The request forwarded by the Ministry of Food for allowing the excess 500,000 to 700,000 tons of wheat was rejected by the ECC. The committee cited that allowing export of wheat would create a situation similar to the what the country had witnessed in the Musharraf era.
Trading activity at the Karachi Stock Exchange remains dull
Karachi: The Karachi Stocks lost 105 points as the trading activity at the Karachi Stock Exchange remained dull though the market started with a positive note touching the mid day highest of 7,208.98 points. The index closed at 7,067.85 points.
