Punjab opens its door to IDPs - Nawaz Sharif pledges full support for displaced people
Lahore (The News): The chief of Pakistan Muslim League (N) while addressing his party’s meeting on effected people of Swat pledge full support and said that door of Punjab are open for the displaced people and Punjab will do whatever it can to help these people out during their time of distress.
Pakistan security forces take control of scenic Maalam Jaaba
Islamabad (AFP): The Pakistan Army, yesterday, confirmed that it had successfully pushed the militants out of Maalam Jaaba and have taken full control of the city. The sources also said that the militant had staged strong resistance.
Adding further AFP reports that the Pakistan Military spokesman, Major General Athar Abbas has said that it will take 10 more days to take over Mingora.
Chief Justice of Pakistan wants law to benefit common man
Islamabad (The News International): During his address to the National Defense University, the Chief Justice of Pakistan said that law must benefit the common man, downtrodden and under privileged people. He stressed that the democratic government is built on the ground of the constitution and adherence to the rule of law.
He said, “The Supreme Court of Pakistan is the highest court of the country and all decisions of this court are binding on all other courts in Pakistan. All the executive and judicial authorities throughout Pakistan act in aid of the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court exercises appellate jurisdiction over the judgments of high courts as well as certain other tribunals like the service tribunals, both provincial as well as federal,”
Karachi - Sindh - political parties blocking IDP’s entry are challenging writ if the government
Lahore (The News International): Yesterday’s strike to block the entry of the internally displaced people into Sindh and calling for their return has been taken seriously by the Pakistan’s political arena. The Leaders of the Jamaat-i-Islami leader said the Sindh is turning into a personal state, and the leaders of the political parties including Jiya Sindh are challenging the writ of the government by not allowing entry to the IDPs.
KSE- 100 index rises by 27 points
Karachi (Business recorder): The strike call by some political parties had little effect on the trading session of Karachi Stock Exchange yesterday. The index rose by 27 points bringing the index at 7,173.57 points yesterday.
