Orlando, Florida (CaymanMama.com) — Those with a sweet tooth for their favorite refrigerated cookie dough treats may be disappointed Friday.
Popular packaged food company Nestle USA has announced its baking unit issued a voluntary recall of a national favorite - the Toll House refrigerated cookie dough product following a number of reported illnesses by those who consumed the raw dough.
Nestle USA confirmed health officials at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) are conducting a full investigation of reported E. coli cases which may be linked to the ingestion of raw cookie dough.
The company cautioned buyers from consuming raw cookie dough and said that a warning on doing so is featured on its packaging.
According to the Associated Press, “The recall includes refrigerated cookie bar dough, cookie dough tub, cookie dough tubes, limited edition cookie dough items, seasonal cookie dough and Ultimates cookie bar dough. It does not affect any other Toll House products.”
