US senate approves heft aid package for Pakistan

Washington (Dawn.com): US1.5 billion aid for the next five years to fight extremism and economic development was approved by the US senate yesterday. Swat under control - Government employees asked to resume the offices

He said, ‘The serious security situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan … also has important implications for the Middle East.’

‘As we have seen from attacks and al-Qaeda planning and activities across the Middle East and Europe, the danger reaches far beyond the borders of Afghanistan and Pakistan,’ he added.

Uncertainty clinches KSE-100 index

Karachi (Business Recorder): Uncertainty regarding the imposition of new taxes and absence of leverage products forced the investors to loose their confidence and as such the trading seized to move forward. The trading activities remained minimum and the index swayed between 7,023.48 points and 6,688.71 points. The KSE-100 managed to close positive with additional 2.41 points on board.
