Military operation in Pakistan is the need of Pakistan, Afghanistan and the US

Islamabad (Dawn.com): The top US security official, General (Retd) James L. Jones during his visit to Pakistan discussed various issues concerning military operation against the terrorists. During his stay, he held meetings with the Pakistani President, the Prime Minister and the Chief of Army Staff. He during his meeting spoke about the treats of terrorism, he said, ‘Terrorism is not simply the enemy of America — it is a direct and urgent threat to the Pakistani people.’

General Jones also stressed that the military operation in Northern Pakistan launched against the Taliban and Al-Qaeda has been a ‘tremendous confidence building measure for the future.’

Is Aafia Siddiqui, Pakistani neuroscientist faking to avoid trial

New York (Dawn.com): Aafia Siddiqui, Pakistani neuroscientist, in US custody for charges of involvement in terrorist activities will be appearing in court today. She, due to her mental condition is unable to tell about the past five years. The US court previously had ordered Psychiatric tests and was deemed unfit for trial.

However, reports from two independent government psychiatrists submitted reports that Aafia Siddiqui was ‘malingering’ or faking her mental illness.

Restart of peace talks between India and Pakistan in favor of both the countries

Islamabad (Dawn.com): As resuming talks is in the interest of both, Pakistan and India, it cannot be termed as a favor from one country to another. This was clearly put across to the Indian authorities by the Pakistan foreign office. The FO spokesman said, ‘The composite dialogue is in our mutual interest. It is also unavoidable should we want viable peace and stability in the region.’

102.94 points on board at Karachi Stock Exchange

Karachi (Business Recorder): The stocks at the browse surged by 102.94 points as the foreign investors resorted to buying oil, banking and cement sector scripts. The KSE-100 index stood at 7,128.83 points at the close of the days trading session.
