Kashmir issue to be addressed in peace talks with India
Lahore (Dawn.com): The Pakistani Prime Minister, Yusuf Raza Gilani told the reporters that Kashmir issue would not be left alone during the peace talks with India. He stressed that for long lasting peace in the Indo Pak region and in the Asian region in general resolution of Kashmir issue is of utmost importance. He said, ‘Kashmir is a core issue and its resolution is necessary for durable regional peace. Ignoring it in dialogue with India will not help to sustain the talks process.’
Pakistan getting US help to modernize Pakistan nuclear assets
Washington (Dawn.com): US has decided to spend over $100 million a year to help modernize Pakistan nuclear assets with the view of making them more safer by helping preventing any accident. The measures taken by the US are also to ensure that the nuclear assets remain out of the reach of the terrorists networks.
Andrew Cockburn’s report on modernizing of Pakistan nuclear assets states, ‘it is inevitable that the US is not only rendering the warheads more operationally reliable, we are also transferring the technology required to design more sophisticated warheads without having to test them’
Suicide bomber’s trainer arrested in Swat
Islamabad (Dawn.com): The Pakistan security forces, yesterday, intercepted some vehicles and recovered heavy loads of explosives and suicide bombing material. The raid also resulted in the arrest of Abdul Rehman, who admitted being a trainer of suicide bombers. Two suicide bombers were also arrested.
Balochistan National Party leaders take tough stance on Baloch people’s rights
Quetta (Dawn.com): With many casualties on the parts of Baloch people and with the attitude of the past Pakistani leaders, the leader of the Balochistan National Party, Sardar Akhtar Mengal told a public gathering that “No compromise ‘ON Rights of Baloch People’ would be reached with anyone. He added that the bitter experiences of the past has led the Baloch to take a tough stance and no one will be allowed to play with the resources of the province.
