Houston, Texas (Press Release Service CaymanMama.com) — The entertainment world has lost another big name in the business.
Dark bearded and lively pitchman Billy Mays died on Sunday at his Florida home at the age of 50.
According to an E! Online report, Mays was said to have sustained a bump to his head while landing on his US Airways flight on Saturday.
Hillsborough County Medical Examiner Vernard Adams said the OxiClean pitchman suffered from hypertensive heart disease, and the wall of the left ventricle of his heart and the wall of one of his arteries were enlarged.
“The heart disease is perfectly consistent with sudden death,” Adams said.
An official cause of death will follow the official toxicology report and other tests in approximately 10 weeks.
“While it provides some closure to learn that heart disease took Billy from us, it certainly doesn’t ease the enormous void that his death has created in our lives,” his wife, Deborah, said in a statement. “As you can imagine, we are all devastated.”
“Although Billy lived a public life, we don’t anticipate making any public statements over the next couple of days. Our family asks that you respect our privacy during these difficult times.”
