Shah Mahood Qureshi spells Pakistan’s victory against terrorists
London (Dawn.com): The Guardian of UK reported the Pakistan Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi stating that the Pakistan is winning the war against the terrorists. He told the newspaper that public opinion has changed since the operation began and now the local are regrouping to help the Pakistan security forces.
He said, ‘Today, public opinion has converted to such an extent that the local tribes have set up lashkars [militias] to support army operations.’ ‘The army has eliminated a lot of the second and third tier leadership, and that has hit their effectiveness and their capacity to regroup and counterattack is diminishing, even if it is gradually,’ he added.
Pakistan to get help in extending its combat terrorists from France
Islamabad (Dawn.com): The visiting French Admiral, Edouard Guillaud, who is visiting Pakistan met the number of dignitaries in Islamabad including the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan. During his meeting he said, ‘The fight against terrorism is a key matter of concern for the international community. Within the framework of our common goal to fight terrorism, this visit aims at strengthening our bilateral cooperation in the field of defence and security.’
He also confirmed that France will be providing Pakistan with the military equipment and combat helicopters fitted with modern avionics and radar equipment and anti tank missiles.
Rawalpindi gripped by another suicide bomb attack
Rawalpindi (Dawn.com): In the early hours of the evening yesterday, the bus carrying personal of Kahuta Research Laboratories was attached by the suicide bomber who rammed his explosive loaded motorcycle into the bus while it was waiting at the traffic signal.
The bombing incident left 40 people/ passengers of the buss injured out of which 5 are reported to be in critical condition.
Freeze of petrol price at pre June 30 price requested by PML-N
Islamabad (Dawn.com): The Pakistan Muslim League (N) has requested the Supreme Court of Pakistan to freeze the price of Petroleum on the June 30 price. The Pakistan government has increased the prices of Petrol while the International price of fuel has decreased. The PML-N has moved the application under order 33, Rule 6 in which the petitioners have challenged oil price mechanism.
Karachi Stock Exchange registers 227.62 points gain
Karachi (Business Recorder): Huge foreign buying helped the KSE-100 index to cross the sentimental level of 7,500 points during mid day trading after which the local institutions and the retail investors joined the buying spree at the Karachi Stock Exchange. At close of the trading day the stock exchange registered a healthy gain of 227.62 points that brought the KSE-100 index at 7,498.34 points.
