Lahore (Dawn.com): Leaders of PPP and PML-N met yesterday mostly for the satisfaction of their foreign mediators. The eye wash meeting did not bring any substantial results with both the leaders avoiding the media. The routine statements which is a usual feed for the media and Pakistani people read as, ‘n agreement had been reached to fight militancy and take all political players on board on the issue, respect each other’s mandate, amend the Constitution on the basis of the Charter of Democracy, resolve the Balochistan crisis through political dialogue and sort out all differences between the PML-N and the PPP through talks.’
Militancy remains to be the only top priority for the political leaders as they would extract aid from their foreign masters, yet core pubic issues like power shortage, high inflation, joblessness, etc that is creating frustration among the Pakistanis is by no means important.
The most important issue to President Zardari seems to be the Chair of the President and the meeting are held under pressure from the influential quarters to find ways to maintain his position and in the fear of being toppled from Presidency.

Islamabad (Dawn.com): The PML-N chief, Nawaz Sharif, who had been barred from taking part in the election on the grounds that he had case of issuing orders for hijacking former President Musharraf’s airplane on the eve of the coup. The Supreme Court, yesterday, acquitted the political leader.
The courts 55 page order read as, ‘ Looking at the case from any angle, the charge of hijacking, attempt to hijack or terrorism does not stand established against the petitioner.’
UK authorities forced to set free the pair of Pakistani students held under terror charges
London (Dawn.com): 2 out of 10 student who face deportation and were held on charges of being a threat to national security were set free due to lack of actionable evidence. These students were ordered to wear electronic tags to help the authorities to seek their whereabouts. The home office, in this regards said, The two individuals no longer meet the required criteria for detention on the grounds of national security. They are currently detained pending removal, but legally we cannot hold them indefinitely. We are therefore putting in place suitable and robust measures to ensure we are fully aware of their whereabouts as we progress their cases for removal.’
Karachi Stock breach 7,800 points mark during mid day trading
Karachi (Dawn.com): The positivity prevailed at the stock exchanges of Pakistan due to the political developments in the country. Resultantly, the business at the Karachi Stock Exchange started with the positive note. The KSE-100 index crossed the 7,800 points mark to hit the days heigest at 7,810.81 points by mid day. The Index settled with the increase of 48.59 points by the days end bring the KSE-100 index to 7,764.01 points.
