Islamabad (Dawn.com): With Musharraf absent from the court, the Supreme Court carried out detailed delebration on the the reason that the former President to proclaim emergence in the country. The request put forward to the court to try Musharraf in the high treason case was ignored by the Chief Justice citing that the court would simply hear the case for proclaiming emergency, take a simple route instead of derailing the system.

Lahore lawyers manhandle media men - snatch camera and beat up the journalists
Lahore (Dawn.com): The news reporters, who a day earlier, recorded and reported beating up of a policeman by the lawyers, yesterday attacked the same journalist who arrived near the Lahore high court. The news that was televised nationwide and was condemned by all quarters that the protectionists of law break law and assault people. The accused lawyers managed to get an interim bail till August 10, 2009.
Stocks down - KSE-100 index loose 45.22 points
Karachi (Business Recorder): The Karachi Stock Exchange, yesterday, opened with a negative note. The depreciation of local currency, foreign selling and rise in the T-bills yield created uncertainties among the investors. The KSE-100 index fell to 7,467.65 points, 45.22 less than the previous day.
