Islamabad (Dawn.com): While speaking on the historic decision by the Supreme Court of Pakistan that nullified Musharraf’s Nov. 3, 2007 emergency and appointment of judiciary under Provisional Constitutional Order, Prime Minister of Pakistan was upheld the courts decision.
While speaking to the National Assembly session yesterday, the Prime Minister said, ‘The cases of such judges of the Supreme Court and high courts who were working on the 3rd of November 2007 and had taken oath under the PCO (but) who have not retired, … as directed by the Supreme Court, are being sent to the Supreme Judicial Council under article 209 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.’

Lahore (Dawn.com): Supreme Court of Pakistan has given 120 days to the parliament to finalize over 3 dozens ordinances promulgated by the former President, General Pervaiz Musharraf. Pakistan Muslim League (N) has already indicated its tough stand on the issue and upon the return of the PML-N’s chief Nawaz Sharif from UK, consultations will be held with the party member on the issue of NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance).
Shahbaz Sharif, the Chief Minister of Punjab has also indicated tough stand by the party leader on Musharraf’s Nov. 3, 2007 acts. Despite pressure Nawaz Sharif had refused to approve Nov. 3, 2007 decisions.
Pakistan to get expensive electric power through rental power plants
Islamabad (Business Recorder): The Minister of Water and Power, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, told the National Assembly, yesterday, that the rental power projects are the only option to end the suffering of Pakistani people due to the power outages. He said that other option like hydro power, coal and Independent power plants might take over 3 to eight years to come into operation and as such rented power plants is the fastest option left.
According to Business Recorder news, the Minister also added “Mangla Dam is being filled up to 1210 feet height following completion of its raising. There will be additional storage capacity of 2.5 million acres of water besides 12 percent increase in electricity generation.
16 terrorists arrested during search operation by the security forces
Islamabad (Business Recorder): From Swat and parts of Malakan in the cleanup operation the security forces captured 16 militants in the past 24 hours. 3 terrorists surrendered to the security forces during the operation in these regions.
Karachi Stock Exchange losses 3.94 points amid mixed trends
Karachi (Business Recorder): The trading session at the Karachi Stock Exchange reflected mixed trends. The index swayed on both sides. The mid day highest reached to positive 49.74 and the sessions lowest was recorded at 36.33. The market finally closed at minus 3.94 points. The KSE-100 stood at 7,716.99 points at the days end.
